Crohn’s Disease (CD) 5
Crohn’s disease is caused by chronic inflammation of the digestive tract. Symptoms vary, but often include abdominal pain, severe diarrhoea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition. The inflammation can involve different areas of the GI tract, but commonly affects the lower part of the small intestine, including the terminal ileum and ascending colon. In CD, swelling and scar tissue can lead to narrowing of the intestine.
